29-Oct-94

Tonight with a couple friends for dinner. Dinner consisted of (all compliments of Dorit):

Morsels of cream cheese with horseradish and asparagus wrapped in smoked salmon.
______
Prawns wrapped in prosciutto with Grand-Marnier and orange sauce.
______
Duck in Shiraz and olives, fried red-pepper and baked potatoes.
______
Cheese plate (Edem, Gruyere, Danish Blue, Chevre).
______
Pana Cotta (Similar to caramel custard, but made of double cream and much better!).

The wine accompanied the smoked salmon and the prawns. It was a perfect match to both very different dishes.

Meursault - Chateau de Blagny 1990 L. Latour

9/94. Acquired from Beaune Jun-94 for $21 (imported for $27 net).
COLOR: Light straw-yellow.
NOSE: Fresh, assertive Bourgogne Chard. Prominent fruit through wood.
TASTE: Delivers even more than promised by aroma. Tingy grapes, hint of honey, viscous butter. Ever developing in the mouth.
LENGTH: Real long lingering taste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Good balance. Acidity, alcohol and tannins all there but none too apparent. Still some room for inter-marriage between all ingredients.
OVERALL: Excellent now, and good value! will peak in about two years.
MARK: 17/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? Yes.
