Cabernet Sauvignon - Yarden 1990 Golan Wineries
5/95. Robin Garr bought a bottle recently, so I thought I'll see how this vintage
developed lately.
Tonight with noodle chicken-soup, a goose confit (conserved, bought in France)
and some French cheese.
Dark violet, lighter towards the rim. Not particularly translucent.
Impressive 'legs' on the glass.
Rich bouquet of cinnamon, black forest-fruits, plumes, some peppery tones and
oak.
Complex taste. Some fruit with undertones of licorice. Strong tannins
especially felt on the aftertaste, reasonable acidity and alcohol. Medium body
(relatively), not really chewy.
Medium length. Still far from open. Too tannic, components not yet harmonized.
Obviously a serious wine. IMHO not yet delivering its full potential.
