Meursault Blagny - 1er Cru 1990 L. Jadot
7/95. Acquired from Beaune June-94 for $22 (imported for$33 net).
Today we shared this lovely bottle with our wine-partners over an excellent
sea-food lunch in one of our favorite restaurants in Tel-Aviv.
COLOR: Medium golden yellow. Looks viscous.
NOSE: Typical Meursault nose. Not much in the way of fruity grapes. More like
buttery almonds, with hints of apples or pears. Very pleasant and forward, if
not intoxicating bouquet.
TASTE: Very refreshing with obvious 'thick' or 'fat' qualities. Fully mature,
integrated taste that wonderfully accompanied the wide variety of seafood we
had.
LENGTH: Short but pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: A 'fat' and viscous wine, as mature as it can get. Maybe a
tiny bit short on acid, but who cares. Actually, this 'neutral' acidity is the
reason (IMHO) that the wine went surprisingly well with the Humus & Tahina we
had for starters!
OVERALL: An excellent unpretentious white (B). Probably a bit better than the
more easily found Latour's Chateau du Blagny (and only about $2 more
expensive). Drink now!
MARK: 17/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? Yes.
