Corton Charlemagne 1989 L. Jadot

9/95. Acquired from Beaune May-94 for $58 (imported for $73 net).
This great white wine from Jadot's own Domaine accompanied tonight's first course of lightly fried goose-liver served on a bed of sliced apples in Calvados.
COLOR: Medium deep golden yellow.
NOSE: Excellent nose of minerals, steel and honey tones. Similar to a great Meursault but less profound than the '88 Jadot Corton Charlemagne I had in the past.
TASTE: Very typical Corton Charlemagne. Very dry 'Wet stones' taste, some apricot, buttery fat or fullness. Wholesome taste with multilayers of flavors develop in the mouth. A tiny bit reserved on the finish.
LENGTH: Very long, but a bit dried-out aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Quite viscous full bodied Grand Cru. Wood fruit and alcohol in good balance. Could use a bit more acidity IMO.
OVERALL: An excellent Corton Charlemagne, though I've had superb and extraordinary ones in the past...
MARK: 17+/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? No.
