Beaune - Bressandes 1988 A. Morot
10/95. Acquired from London for $22 (imported for $32 net).
The wines of this excellent domaine have always been favorites of mine. The
small domaine is run by a charming old lady from a half-dilapidated chateau
(sort of) near Beaune.
COLOR: Medium-light pinkish-red.
NOSE: Almost no trace of 'Bourgogne Nose'. Plenty of 'open' cherries aroma
with very light earthy tones.
TASTE: Quite concentrated and very tasteful. Young vibrant fruit all over.
Some soft tannins to counter the fruit makes this wine a delight to drink.
LENGTH: Not much aftertaste to speak of.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium body and very good balance. Plenty of acidity give
the sensation of a very young wine.
OVERALL: Very good indeed. Not the most complex, but an excellent example of
what a good Beaune 1er Cru should be like. Superb value.
MARK: 16+/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? Yes.
