Vosne - Les Suchots 1989 J. Drouhin

12/95. Acquired from Beaune for $26 June-94 (imported for $31 net).
It has been 13 months since I tasted this wine. So tonight we decided to try it again.
COLOR: Deep violet red. No noticeable other hues.
NOSE: At first, young bouquet with lots of cherries bursting through the not particularly delicate 'Bourgogne Nose'. After a short while the fruit almost disappeared. We were left with reasonable aroma, but no more than that.
TASTE: At first astringent and harsh. With time, the wine softened and mellowed to show off some fruit on the palate. At that stage there was nothing wrong with the taste. It just wasn't particularly savory.
LENGTH: Medium but weak.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Again, there is nothing wrong here too. Medium body, reasonable fruit, soft tannins, discernable acidity. Yet no real harmony.
OVERALL: Neither profound nor particularly delicate. Still a good wine but IMHO not going places.
MARK: 15/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? No.
