Nuits - Haute Pruliers 1989 D. Rion

4/97. Acquired May-96 from Patrice Rion at the winery for $30.
For Friday night dinner for four at our home, we opened this Nuits-St. Georges 1er Cru to accompany the first course of mushrooms a la creme.
COLOR: Medium garnet-red color, slightly clearing towards the rim. Must have been filtered as not even a trace of sediment on the bottle.
NOSE: Rich and forward. A good mix of mature 'Bourgogne Nose' and black fruit. A tiny bit aggressive or pungent but not harsh at all.
TASTE: Mouth-filling mature sweetish fruit. Good concentration. Disappearing but still present soft tannins.
LENGTH: Medium-long and pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-full bodied. Good balance between fruit, acidity, alcohol and tannins.
OVERALL: Superb, charming and delightful unpretentious wine! Quite 'en point' now though will last a few more years.
MARK: 18/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? Yes.
