Nuits-St. Georges 'Les Damodes' 1990 Marchard de Gramont

9/98. Acquired from Beaune, Dec-94 for $22 (imported for $32 net).
I took this bottle to a birthday party of a friend.
I am not a big fan of Nuits-St. George in general but every now and then I try one. This is my first bottle from this producer or this 1er Cru vineyard.
COLOR: Really hard to see as the party was held in the dim-lighted garden, but looked normal for an eight-years (B).
NOSE: Medium rich black forest-fruit, with a not-too-elegant 'Bourgogne Nose' as background. Pretty decent nose, though nothing to write home (or web-site) about.
TASTE: Reasonably tasty, though a pretty crude. Good fruit but a bit too acidic. In line with most NSG I always had i.e coarse, structured, easy quaffer with food but no real depth or complexity.
LENGTH: Almost nothing there.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Light-weight, fruity, not refined and not particularly well balanced.
OVERALL: Good-plus. Easily drinkable. Not too bad for the price I guess but I think I got it really cheap.
MARK: 15.5/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? No.
