Cabernet Sauvignon 'SR' 1990 R. Mondavi

4/99. Bought in auction, Apr-98 for $90 (imported for $110 net).
Opened for a hearty and immensely tasteful mixed-grill take-away lunch(!) with a good friend.
COLOR: Very dark black-red. Hardly noticeable clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Voluptuous aromas of black forest-fruit, cassis and wood barrels elements. Very forward and harmonious. Really enticing.
TASTE: Wonderful combination of deep flavors with velvet delicacy. Fully evolved on the palate with lots of winyness and impressive complexity. A great accompaniment to charcoaled meats. Tannins were noticeable (though not distracting) at first, but subsided along the two hours we were drinking this wine.
LENGTH: Moderately long and very pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-full body though far from being a blockbuster. Quite mature and complex with delicious taste and fine grip. Very well balanced too.
OVERALL: Superb! Even better than the last time I tasted it. Mature and ready for anyone to enjoy.
MARK: 18/20.BUY MORE? Yes.
