Turriga (Sardinia) |
1995 |
Argiolas |
7/2001. Received as present. Costs about $35 on the international market.
This is my first ever Sardinian wine. It is a blend of local red varietals: Cannonau, Malvasia Nera, Carignano and Bovale Sardo.
COLOR: Ruby red, some clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Very nice fruity-spicy nose. Cherries, black berries and hint of eucalyptus. Wood is there but is subdued and well integrated with the fruit.
TASTE: Fruity, flavorful and wonderfully harmonious. Neither dense nor alcoholic, this well structured wine has good acidity, soft tannins, and is extremely tasty.
LENGTH: Medium-long and pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium bodied wine. Reasonably concentrated winyness, fairly complex fruit, firm backbone, superbly harmonious and perfectly balanced.
OVERALL: Very Fine. A pleasure to drink now but will easily hold for another five or more years.
MARK: 18/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
