Chianti Riserva Tenute Marchese 1997 Antinori

11/01. Bought at Antinori's estate, Oct-00 for $29.
One of the most celebrated Chianti Classico wines where about 10% Cabernet Sauvignon add structure to the fruitiness of the classic Sangiovese grapes.
COLOR: Deep ruby color, no clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Initially, extremely fresh clean red fruit and flowery nose with a touch of oak. Later on the fruity elements subside a little and more wood tones are aparent.
TASTE: Pronounced Chianti flavors with smooth winyness firm structure and lovely balance. Still a bit young and somewhat tannic. Serious Chianti. Very tasty now but will improve with time.
LENGTH: Medium long aftertaste that is a bit dominated by tannins.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-full bodied, very well structured wine with plenty of fruit and flavors. Deep and relatively complex, this Chianti needs time for the wood and tannins to completely integrate into the wine.
OVERALL: Very Fine. Needs 2-3 years to reach its peak.
MARK: 18/20.BUY MORE? Yes.
