Brunello di Montalcino 'La Casa' |
1990 |
Caparzo |
3/2000. Bought at auction Feb-99 for $110.
In tandem with my latest mood, we opened another Italian wine. This time a matured top-class Brunello.
I had this wonderful wine two and a half years ago and have enjoyed it tremendously.
COLOR: Medium deep red with beautiful maturity hues. Some clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Deep aromas of ripe fruit and spice. Wood tones are there but are fully integrated with the aroma. Rich and complex nose that is totally captivating.
TASTE: Multi-flavored, fat and concentrated. Mouthfilling with wonderful warm fruit, harmoniously integrated into the excellent winyness. Fully matured yet focused and vibrant. Round soft tannins and excellent acidity add to the perfection. Absolutely delicious.
LENGTH: Lingering flavorful aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Full bodied, but with such a silky harmonious texture that it doesn't feel like one. Forward yielding and extremely tasty, yet deep complex and wonderfully backboned (can one say 'backboned'?). Superbly balanced, this wine is at its absolute peak right now.
OVERALL: Outstanding! So good and so tasty - this wine at this point in time is the wet dream of every Brunello lover.
MARK: 19/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
