6/02. Present from a friend.
My experience with German wines is very limited. Even more so with old Rieslings such as this famous Mosel vineyard.
COLOR: Deep shiny gold.
NOSE: Pronounced old-Riesling petrol notes added to the typical vineyard-nose of this grape. Deep and complex. Very interesting. Very satisfying.
TASTE: Semi-sweet attack with complex dryish finish. The medium concentration with excellent acidity to balance the sweetness. Multi-dimensional with depth of flavors and good structure. Unusual and very tasty.
Believe it or not but we tried this bottle with a take-away chinese lunch: Sweet & sour soup, wanton soup, shrimps 'kong fou', beef and aubergine in Szechuan sauce. It really went very well with everything!
LENGTH: Long and persisting sweetish-dry aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-light body. Very nice balance between ripe fruit, sweetness, acidity and that special quality one only finds in old Riesling.
OVERALL: Very Fine Plus. A rare, unusual and interesting experience.
MARK: 18-18.5/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
