Guado al Tasso 1997 Antinori

8/02. Bought at the winery, Oct-98 for $20 (current market price $80-$100).
From Antinori estate near Bolgheri. Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah are the contributing grapes. This 'Super Tuscan' wine comes from the extraordinary 1997 vintage.
COLOR: Medium dark color, looks vibrant and youthful.
NOSE: Enticing nose of red and black fruit with prominent cherry notes. Deep and complex aromas with a touch of oak.
TASTE: Mouthfilling and extremely tasty. Plenty of winyness, sweetish deep flavors, excellent grip. Good acidity and soft tannins. Totally captivating.
LENGTH: Long lingering aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium bodied well structured wine. Smooth texture in spite of its youthful vigor. Wonderfully balanced.
OVERALL: Superb now, but will improve with a few more years.
