Rioja - Baron de Chirel Reserva |
1994 |
Marques de Riscal |
8/02. Bought in Spain, Jan-01 for $36 (current market price about $60).
The top-of-the-line wine from the Marques de Riscal. About half and half Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, this modern style Rioja is among the best of its kind.
COLOR: Medium red color, some clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Noticeable elements of both classic 'Rioja Nose' like dust and spices together with the sweetish black-fruit contribution of the Cabernet.
TASTE: Ripe and concentrated on the palate with sweetish flavors. Completely integrated, relatively concentrated, with soft tannins and good acidity. Really tasty if not extremely complex.
LENGTH: Medium long sweetish aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-full bodied. Very well balanced.
OVERALL: Very Fine. Fully mature and complete.
MARK: 18-18.5/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
