Ch. Canon 1989 St. Emilion

9/02. Bought in auction, Mar-97 for $100 (current market price $150).
Brought by me to New Years Eve (Jewish) dinner at friends
COLOR: Medium-dark ruby. Slight clearing towards the rim. Some sediment.
NOSE: Low-keyed but pleasant aromas that were initially tinted with some acetic tones. These did subside in time though not entirely. On the whole, the nose was the weakest aspect of this wine.
TASTE: Much much better than the nose. Smooth, silky and elegant. Deep flavors of sweetish ripe fruit and pure winyness that harmoniously blend to give a tasty, well balanced and totally satisfying experience.
LENGTH: Very long and pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-full bodied wine of perfect proportions. Well structured wine of silky texture. Fine grip, good concentration, elegance and beautiful harmony. At its peak now.
OVERALL: Very Fine only because of the unbalanced nose.
MARK: 18/20.BUY MORE? Yes.
