I haven't tasted this wine for many years now. To be honest, I was expecting it to be quite over the hill by now.
COLOR: Medium purple-red, still looking vibrant. noticeable clearing around the rim. Plenty of sediment.
NOSE: Pretty deep nose. Mature black fruit with some tertiary notes. Nothing over the hill here. A bit rustic but concentrated and expressive.
TASTE: Mouth-filling and tasty. Reasonably concentrated with good winyness. Time had smoothed this wine but have not robed it of its punch and taste. Very enjoyable.
LENGTH: Medium long and pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Full bodied wine. Fully mature by now. Not lacking in fruit with soft receding tannins. Nicely balanced
OVERALL: Fine. At 13 years old this is the best preserved Yarden I ever tasted. They usually peak at 7 years and start decaying at ten.
MARK: 17.5/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
