Sassicaia 1990 San Guido

12/02. Bought at auction, Oct-98 for $240.
The most famous and illustrious of the Super Tuscan wines. Carefully produced by San Guido from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (See Sassicaia - the super Super Tuscan).
COLOR: Medium ruby. Some clearing around the rim. Plenty of sediment.
NOSE: Lovely mix of red and black fruit. Typical Cabernet aromas that are softened by the addition of Cabernet Franc. Very nice, deliciously balanced, nose of medium concentration.
TASTE: On the palate, the wine is smooth mouthfilling and tasty. Very expressive with good winyness and structure. Not particularly complex, but superbly crafted with deep mature fruity flavors.
LENGTH: Very long reverberating aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Full bodied fine textured wine. Concentrated and deep but the tasty flavors are straightforward rather than complex. Perfectly balanced and ready to drink.
OVERALL: Very Fine to Superb. An excellent wine whose price got out of hand.
MARK: 18-18.5/20.BUY MORE? No [I would at up to $100].
