7/03. Bought in Spain, June-98 for $15 (Current market price about $40).
A classic style Ribera del Duoro wine. Made of 100% Tempranillo, this wine has a reputation for being consistently good over different vintages.
COLOR: Medium ruby with a hint of brownish hue.
NOSE: Very very nice nose of red forest fruit, semi-ripe prunes and some animalish leather tones. Very clean but unmistakably Tempranillo. Not a huge nose but totally integrated aromas.
TASTE: Deliciously tasty, with excellent mature fruit. Silky, elegant, winey and concentrated. Not immensely deep, but beautifully harmonious wine that is a pleasure to drink.
LENGTH: Medium-long and very pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium bodied wine of fine texture and balance. Fruit, tannins, alcohol and acidity - all blend perfectly.
OVERALL: Fine. A real gem. One of the very best under-$20 wine I ever had [not that I had many lol].
MARK: 17.5/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
