8/03. Bought from the winery, Jan-2001 for $31.
I have been following the evolution of this wonderful Israeli wine for almost three years now. So it was time to check on it again.
COLOR: Medium dark violet-red. Very thin clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Full-thrust nose of deep fruity floral aromas with hints chocolate and tobacco. Very nice backdrop of oak tones that are not overpowering. The only problem with the nose was that it only lasted 10-15 at its full glory. After that it became more subdued (though still a pleasure to sniff at).
TASTE: As good and vivid as the nose. Mature and forward on the palate, with the Cabernet Sauvignon providing depth and the Merlot giving the wine its warm touch. Very very tasty and really harmonized by now.
LENGTH: Long and reverberating aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium bodied wine with a lot of finesse that is not lacking in depth or structure. Superbly balanced too.
OVERALL: Superb. I think this wine is at or rapidly approaching its absolute peak now.
MARK: 18.5/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
