10/2004. Bought in Spain, Jan-01 for $85.
Tempranillo grapes from a single vineyard planted 700m above sea level in the Ribera del Duero make up this wine.
The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in the barrel and is aged in new oak for about two years.
COLOR: Deep purple-red color. No clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Exploding from the glass are complex red and black forest-fruits aromas together with some earthy elements and very well integrated oak tones. Very concentrated nose that does not have the traditional 'dusty' trademark of Spanish wines.
TASTE: Fantasticly rich and complex on the palate. Abundent fruit flavors, vigorous, youthful multilayered and multidimensional. Superbly tasty with round soft tannins excelent winyness and vivid acidity. Wonderful!
LENGTH: Medium long reverberating aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Full bodied rich and opulant wine that never comes close to being an overbearing fruit bomb. Brilliant and perectly balanced. Still young and a bit wild at that. Needs 2-3 more years to completely integrate.
OVERALL: Outstanding! One of the best Tempranillo wines I ever had.
MARK: 19/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
