Clos de Vougeot |
1995 |
L. Jadot |
4/05. Bought in Beaune, Nov-97 for $44.
Jadot's own domaine wine from the parcel they acquired in 1985 from the old Domaine Clair-Dau.
COLOR: Deep read looking sombre poised. Slight clearing around the rim. Some sediment.
NOSE: Very deep nose. Not entirely yielding. Complex aromas of black fruit surrounded by impressive 'Bourgogne Nose' with all the trimmings. Excellent.
TASTE: Mouthfilling multi-dimensional wine. Fruit flavors still somewhat masked by apparent tannins. Concentrated masculine wine. Very satisfying now but will get even better in years to come.
LENGTH: Long reverberating aftertaste a touch dominated by tannins.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Robust rustic type of Grand Cru. Excellent concentration balance and winyness. Needs a few years to completely harmonize.
OVERALL: Superb. One of the few Clos Vougeot really deserving the Grand Cru title.
MARK: 18.5/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
