5/05. Bought in Sydney, Oct-03 for $25.
I had this wine at a restaurant in Sydney a couple of years ago and liked it very much. So much so that I took the trouble to seek it out. A blend of 70% Shiraz, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot.
COLOR: Dark opaque purple-red. No clearing around the rim.
NOSE: Exploding aromas of red and black forest fruit fill your nose with every sniff. Spice, plums and some oak tones add to this wonderful and expressive nose.
TASTE: Full-flavored wine on the palate. A touch sweetish and so very "Australian". Fleshy, juicy, with plenty of winyness. Soft tannins and nice acidity. Extremely tasty.
LENGTH: Medium-long pleasant aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-bodied fine-textured wine that hides nothing. Perhaps not the most complex of wines but a pleasure to drink. Very well balanced too.
OVERALL: Very Fine. Well crafted unpretentious wine that is better than many pretentious ones I've had. Still young and will develop for some years to come.
MARK: 18/20. | BUY MORE? Yes. |
