A Trip to Asia-Pacific
September/October-2003
My 83-years-old father lives in Sydney, Australia.
As I haven't seen him in ten years, we decided to embark on a grand tour to down under to rectify that.
We were away from home for 24 days, of which more than two weeks were spent with my father (and his wife Lara) in Australia.
To break the long journey from Israel to Australia we stopped over for three days in Singapore on the way there, and for four days in Bangkok on the way back.
To ease the effect of the long excruciating flights, we spoiled ourselves by 'slumming' in some of the truly best hotels in the world.
 The Raffles, Singapore |
 The Oriental, Bangkok |
Delicious food and excellent wines were top on our agenda everywhere we stayed. Unfortunately, I managed to lose the small notebook I used for taking notes. So perforce, my recounts of our wining and dining will be sketchy at best...
 YakFest, Singapore |
Peking Duck at China House, Bangkok |
It has been 15 years since we last visited Australia and Singapore, and 19 years since we've been to Thailand. A lot had changed naturally, yet the basic charm of each place remained as we remembered it.
In the following pages I'll try to share with you (in pictures and text) this wonderful Asia-Pacific experience...
