Saturday Night Gala Dinner at Gidleigh Park

Riesling Frederic Emile 1997, Trimbach - Young, flattish, lacks depth and balance.
Reasonable. MARK 15.5/20.
Riesling Frederic Emile 'Surmature Sec' 1986, Trimbach - Not really Sec, but lovely perfumed nose, Excelent Riesling flavors. Very pleasant and well balanced.
Fine. MARK 17.5/20.
Pulligny-Montrachet 'Les Pucelles' 1997, Dom. Leflaive - Plenty of wood on the semi-closed nose. Acidity still overpowering the fruit. Hefty wine that needs time.
Fine. MARK 17.5/20.
Puligny Montrachet 'Clavoillon' 1997, Dom. Leflaive - Softer, less concentrated, but more pleasant than the Pucelles.
Very Good. MARK 17/20.
Chassagne-Montrachet 'Les Masures' 1996, J.N. Gagnard - Pretty simple and lacks distinction. Not bad though.
Good. MARK 16/20.
Nuits-St. Georges 'La Perriere' Blanc 1996, H. Gouges - Made from 'Albino' Pinot Noire. Nice minerally scent. Pleasant and dry on the palate with good acidity.
Fine. MARK 17.5/20.
Bonnes Mares 1990, G. Roumier -Very deep and elegant Bourgogne Nose. Concentrated, winey, supremely elegant. Multi-layared deep mature fruit flavors. Suberbly structured, long and enticing.
Outstanding! MARK 19/20.
Grands Echezeaux 1990, Rene Engel - Lots of red fruit on the nose. If the Bonnes Mares was a 'deep' wine, this here is a 'broad' one. A wonderful spectrum of flavors. Superb acidity length and balance here too.
Outstanding. MARK 19/20.
Richebourg 1990, A&F Gros - Ripe red and black fruit aromas. Wonderful and clean 'Bourgogne Nose'. Silky, velvety on the palate with layer after layer of harmonious flavors. Totally integrated and perfectly balanced.
Extraordinary!! MARK 19.5/20.
Musigny 1990, J. Drouhin - Good nose. Pretty good on the palate though fruit a bit dried out. Not as ellegant as a Musigny should be.
Ver Fine. MARK 18/20.
Tokay d'Alsace SGN 1989, Hugel - Super sweet, super rich nose and taste. Uber concentrated yet fantastically balanced by acidity. Decadence celebration.
Outstanding! MARK 19/20.
Tokay d'Alsace SGN 1983, Hugel - No words would do justice to this perfection. I have tasted this wine a couple of times in the past. It was perfect then and now it had reached the stage where only the gods should be allowed to taste it. And that too only if they were really well behaved.
Divine!!! MARK 20/20.
