Fonte de Medici

October 2000

Think of a beautiful, rustic yet spacious and comfortable country house set amidst the beautiful hills of Toscana, overlooking the famous vineyards of Tignanello and Solaia.

Think of a 600 years-old villa on the Antinori estate that was renovated recently to accommodate guests. Think of spending six days of great autumnal weather in such a place and making it a center for your excursions to vineyards, wineries, fine restaurants and sightseeing Toscana.
The view outside our house is simply a postcard-picture of anyone's vision of Toscana.

We - Dorit and myself - occupied one apartment on the ground floor, while our friends Eli and Gilli had the other. Our 90 sq. meters (about 1075 sq. feet) apartment consisted of tastefully furnished living room, spacious bedroom, modern kitchen and bathroom.

The place is still in its "running-in" phase, so we did encounter a few problems. Sporadic heating, on-and-off hot water, and a really tough dirt road for the last mile leading to the house. But those are really minor child-birth inconveniences that will surly disappear in no time.

If you have a Tuscan vacation in mind, then I wholeheartedly recommend this oasis of peace and serenity in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Very reasonably priced too (about US$122 per day at the current rate). For details you may look up their web site
