The last part of April 2000 saw us visiting three cities in the US.
During this trip I was attacked by what turned out to be the most vicious diabetic acute onset imaginable. Happily I was not aware of it during our trip so, apart from feeling unnaturally thirsty most of the time, I was able to enjoy our visit to the fullest.
Two full-fledged YakFests plus a more intimate third one were thrown in New York and Washington DC. These gave me a chance to meet with many of my 'virtual' friends and to get to know many more wine lovers.

A week after I got back home I was hospitalized. With a measure of 1070(!) sugar in my blood and other body systems failing, I fought for my life for a few days. I am now at home and recovering slowly. I feel much better now and (with a little careful monitoring) I hope and expect to be well again soon.
